A quick disclosure before I explain this picture, I actually like Sonic R.

So many people hate Sonic R, and usually it is subject to ridicule; but I myself legitimately had fun with it. It may not be as well polished as a certain OTHER racing series ("Cough" Mario Kart "Cough") but, I find fans who can't adjust their preferences to play a different game have no right to judge this game. It may not be a well polished racing game, but it IS playable, and can be quite fun once you know how it works.

To me, the only bad thing about Sonic R was the fact that it used Tank controls (Control Stick makes Left and Right turn you, and Forward and back move you); which when playing racing games feels really awkward; however many people tend to insult the game at every turn; Graphics, stages but most distressingly the music.

SONIC R HAS AN AWESOME SOUNDTRACK, do people honestly not know what good music is? It may not be addictive Midi Race music, or hardcore Rock for racing; but the songs are all amazing. If you honestly fault Sonic R for it's soundtrack, I immediately disregard your distaste for the game, end of story. I do not accept that as a fault for hating the game.

Anyway; Sonic R's popularity was pretty low due to it's original release being on the scarcely owned Sega Saturn, it was later re-released on the Sonic Jem's collection, which odds are is where most people first got introduced to it; but something else emerged from Sonic R which has become a very, very well remembered thing.

Consider this a short review of Sonic R, don't jump on the bandwagon and judge it, actually play it yourself. I have played this game a lot, and it is actually lots of fun when you are bored. There are better racing games out there, obviously, but trust me; this is no Sonic Drift; Sonic R actually has redeemable features.

Anyway, the internet is home to many things, and one of them is Creepypasta, the internet version of Campfire ghost stories. People write up stories of things that supposedly "really happened" usually based around horror. Many things are well know from creepypastas, including fan favorites like BEN and Slenderman.

One such creepypasta revolves around Sonic R, and the second unlockable character; Tails' Doll. For people who don't know, Sonic R allows you to play as 10 characters. These are; Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy Rose, Eggman, Metal Sonic, Tails' Doll, Mecha Knuckles, Eggrobo and Super Sonic. Tails' Doll is unlocked by gathering all 5 Sonic coins from around the track; Radical City.

Tails' Doll has ideal handling, being able to turn on a dime, but his speed is only average, and his jump is really awkward, he can however hover over water without sinking, or losing speed at all. Sounds pretty lame right?

Someone came up with the ideal that the original Saturn version of Sonic R is seemingly haunted, and that Tails' Doll is the spirit that haunts it. In order to trigger the Tails' Doll, one would have to play the tag mode in Sonic R, and than tag Super Sonic on Resort Island (Which regardless of what people say, is almost impossible; due to Tails' Doll's horrible speed).

Upon accomplishing this, players were said to by haunted by Tails' Doll, who would attempt to murder you (In real life, not in the game), accompanied by the track; Can you Feel the Sunshine and that the only way to survive is to surround yourself with objects related to Metal Sonic.
-----

To begin, the Tails' Doll Myth has a bunch of holes in it. For starters, why the Tails' Doll would be afraid of Metal Sonic makes little sense. They were both built by Dr. Robotnik; so they would be on the same side; Why Tails' Doll would be fearful of Metal makes little to no sense; especially when my second point is taken into account.

Second; being accompanied by; Can you Feel the Sunshine, which is the theme of Resort Island. Problem is, this contradicts the first point. Tails' Doll is afraid of Metal Sonic, so why on earth would he chase you playing the theme of the stage you unlock Metal Sonic in? Tails' Doll's real theme should technically be; Livin' in the City, because you unlock Tails' Doll in Radical City, not Resort Island.

Among other problems with it, I don't think I need to even mention the ridiculousness of a game summoning a spirit to kill you, among other things; so for the love of gods people, don't take this seriously. It's just a story meant to scare you for laughs.

So why did I make this image if I think the Tails' Doll myth is BS? Well, to be honest, I think the concept is cute; Yes Cute, not scary. I mean, doesn't the concept of a random unlockable character, which happens to be a Robot doll that wants to murder you sound somewhat silly? It comes off as charming and cute to give such a random character a unique persona in this aspect. So as much as I dislike the Tails' Doll Creepy pasta; I do like that it made Tails' Doll a very memorable character in the Sonic Fanbase. If the myth didn't exist, Tails' Doll would just be an obscure character that nobody cares about.

Just remember, he doesn't Feel the Sunshine, he has so many people all around, so many feelings to be found, living in a city where no one lets him down... :icontailsdollplz:
